LinkedIn New Features: “Stories” & “Video Meetings”

LinkedIn is one of the most important social media platforms for corporate users. It is continuously improving its functionality by adding more features. The clear objective behind every new move is to facilitate users for increasing engagement and better networking. The company is enabling business owners and entrepreneurs, showing show product demo. The TWO recently rolled out features are “Stories,” and “video chat” connecting directly from the “Messaging” tool. 

​​`Stories’ is like Facebook’s `Story’

LinkedIn released an 11-minute video informing the writers about the upcoming features. The “Stories” is like the Facebook feature called the story. Content expires after 24 hours rather than staying live on your profile forever. LinkedIn claims that “Stories” are shown on top, keep you visible to your connections.  The Video option is a powerful feature for connecting with your network. LinkedIn says that video posts are “lightweight” and more engaging as a compared old-school status update.

These are easy to run than an article or text-heavy update. The question worth asking is how business owners would use stories feature. LinkedIn observed the behavior of business owners using this feature by sharing the product demo, packaging, and product or book launch information. Some entrepreneurs use their network for insights and knowledge sharing. For helping the users to familiarize themselves with new features, the LinkedIn plans to provide daily prompts, called “Question of the Day.”

​Messaging is now video, not the text

Covid-19 pandemic proved a blessing for many like Zoom. Inspired by the increasing calls on Zoom the LinkedIn starting face to face video features soon. This feature will use Microsoft Teams, BlueJeans by Verizon, or Zoom–directly from LinkedIn messaging. It will help the users chatting with a connection without using their Zoom or Teams account.
