Noisy Joints – Care & Cure

Joints are the giant in your body that keep you moving, running, bowing, and all the body movements you can imagine. Things go normal as you keep a habit of ignoring minor issues relating to your body. But once you refuse to ignore every little sound from noisy joints, things start becoming important. Now is the time to get serious to check if there is anything wrong. The noise from your noisy joints is a wake-up call. The noisy joints are actually calling you. So, attend the call attentively.

Listen to crackling joints

Ever have heard a crackle when are you standing up? or a similar sound in your shoulder? May there be a “pop” deep in your hip socket? These cracking, creaking, and popping sounds are initiated from your joints, where your two bones help each other to move your body organ. Most of these sounds are harmless according to medical experts.

Some noises can be a result of the loss of muscle tissues, conditions like osteoarthritis, and perhaps cartilage damage from an injury. Hearing carefully about such joints is actually a matter of real concern to understand where and why the bell is ringing. The following can be some of the reasons.

Joint Fluid

There is a membrane that surrounds joints that contain fluid to help smooth joint movements. Fluid sometimes shifts from one place to another causing sound. This type of sound sounds the most common of all joint sounds.

Muscle Weakness

Hearing a loud “pop” means that there is muscle weakness in your upper leg. It can be an indication of a meniscus tear. It is in the cartilage located in the knee. Have you a doctor around, you at least needed to walk to the doctor. The checkup can only confirm the actual cause and treatment could be physical therapy, exercises, electrical stimulation, etc. To strengthen muscles.

Swollen Tendon

All your moments cause stress on joints. A reaction of action can irritate tendons. Rest, massage, medicines, limiting sports activities, exercise, or surgery all can be the treatment options depending upon the diagnosis.

Worn Cartilage

Bones can rub against each other if the cartilage wears out. Again exercise and electronic stimulation to strengthen muscles or surgery in cases of severe injury can be the treatment options…

Arthritis

If your joints are stiff and swollen and making noises, it can be arthritis. Treatment options for arthritis include gentle stretching, ice packs on sore areas, resting the joint, and taking warm showers to relieve your symptoms.

Totally Normal Noises

Like anything unusual without any reason, the joint noises are also without anything serious sometimes. One of the most common sources of noise is gas. The joint capsule is filled with synovial fluid, which lubricates the joint and provides nourishment to the cells that form cartilage. The fluid contains dissolved gases, including carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and oxygen.

Stretching the joint ligaments the pressure within the capsule shifts releasing carbon dioxide in the form of bubbles. The cracking sound comes from the bursting of the gas bubble. When these bubbles burst, it causes a sense of spaciousness within the joint and a bit of increase in its range of motion.

Another common cracking or popping sound doesn’t come from within the joint at all. During movement, tendons and ligaments which cross the joint can temporarily shift position or rub across a bone.

Not-So-Normal Noises

Such no so normal noises are called crepitus. Crepitus occurs when there is damage to the cartilage within the joint. The damage is due to overuse or aging or due to injuries, such as a tear in the ligament or cartilage. It can also be an early sign of arthritis.

Are all those “pops” and “clunks” signs and songs an indication of serious problems? That depends on how your joints feel. Pain, swelling, numbness, and loss of stability are all signs that something is amiss. Noise without these symptoms is probably harmless. Moderate joint cracking also helps to keep your joints from stiffening up — and that’s a good thing.

A reason to Cheer

So cheer up until you don’t have anything serious. Just take a balanced diet, regular exercise, and a brisk walk around, all it keeps your body healthy. Joints are not supposed to joggle without any serious cause. Bones are the building materials of joints. Take care of your bones as these are the slowest part of the body to heal if it breaks.
